Reverse osmosis reverses the pressure of the natural osmosis process. T his means that salt or brackish water is pressed through a semi-permeable membrane to transform it into drinking water. Unlike the traditional membrane filter, the pores of the membrane are not permeable. Instead, ions and molecules move through the membrane material by diffusion.
